Actually they were called a grunge band before anyone knew who they even were. Your name really makes it sound like you weren't even born before Kurt died. Grunge is a sub genre of Alternative rock and is a mix of punk and metal.

ya all their songs are great but after a while you gotta find new ones (ones you havent listened to much and discover they actually are good) cause you burn out the ones youve listened to a million times likessmells like teen spirt and basically the whole nevermind album haha
