Puerto Rican spanish was VERY different not to long ago. Because, like the majority of Caribean islands it was majority black/taino/mulato/triracial for a very long time, until the Spanish imported more Europeans. It was a combination of Bozal, Old Spanish, Taino, and other African languages.

I would say the majority of Puerto Ricans are of African descent. This due to there being very few European women for a very long time. Also if you look at the census records Puerto Rico was majority Black/Brown/Mixed until very recent. That was until Spain "recruited" more Europeans to whiten the population. This is still done all over Latin America.

You are right. DNA tests can be inaccurate. I think because we don't know how to fully interpret them yet. The census records of Latin America are extremely racist. And the study done in Puerto Rico is somewhat accurate (in my opinion). But not completely. Even that study is misinterpreted and racist.

I know black puerto ricans who have used those DNA tests and they have found that they do have indian admixture...not only them, but dark dominicans...but w/e if you wanna keep believing puerto ricans are pure africans....yeah haitians and puerto ricans are exactly the same...lol

DNA studies are biased and innacurate. Who were the subjects? White Puerto Ricans? I bet they didn't test anyone in Loiza, assuming the residents were descendants of Africans and therefore didn't need to test. Besides, you can't really tell someone's race based on their DNA unless they suffer from diseases common to certain areas...like sickle-cell anemia in West Africa.

have you ever been to mexico, peru etc? ...we all a mixture of the three, some parts of PR show one aspect more than other. same in other countriesDNA studies show that 60% of the island is of indian descent, that doesn't mean these people aren't part african, european, or asian...but to say the indian influence is gone is crazy...buenos aires used to be 50% black, now look at it, but that's a different situation altogether...gov only want white people
