I went to Bhutan several times and, being a pilot, I could not help film this landing from the flight deck. Landing in Paro is basically visual, with a requirement to have the runway in sight on downwind. See for yourself.

Wow! That was amazing! Looks like some idiot like me said, "Hey, lets put a runway here." Not knowing any better.

Thats the most difficult approach,i thought he was gonna have to go past and make a left downwind..visual landing is a must here.

Amazing video - that approach just got written up in Travel & Leisure as THE scariest approach in the WORLD!

Most insane big jet airport approach I've ever seen. MHTG, eat your heart out.

Terrific video. Thanks for posting it. I have friends from Nepal and I've been interested in Bhutan for some time.

believe it or not, or a highly coincidental case... we call drunk: verne51 in bhutanese.

Would you say this is probably the most stressful airfield you have had to land in? Or despite all the obstacles is it reasonable enough that it's no more nerve wracking than usual?

Also wanted to comment - Notice home people are building homes around the airport. In America, this always happens and 10 years down the road, they all complain about the jets!
