There is no choice here! The Lalo isn't Oistrach's piece at all. You should try Thibaud for the right style (not always technically spotless, but very personal and with real understanding for the Spanish spirit).

Unusual, five-movement structure the Symphonie has for a de facto violin concerto-like showpiece. As "ideal" as Heifetz (always is), personally I prefer that dimension of soulfulness, apparent that David Oistrakh brought to his performances; e.g., the Lalo w/Martinon and the London Philharmonia Orchestra, 1954. In a mid-century modern sense, recordings from this era were experienced introspectively; without requiring, or themselves being a visual narrative.

This Rondo sounds extremely difficult. i've never played it, but the rhythm seems a little complicated. But Heifets plays it extraordinarily.
