Actually, Mrs. Lovette ran the pie shop and Todd was the barber up stairs, he got transported for a crime he didn't commit and when he came back, he found Lovette still running the pie shop. She had always loved him but he barely ever notices her and that's what drives her crazy about him.

The old hermit women is Todd's wife, but she has driven herself crazy. Todd slashed her throat and let her down to the basement, not knowing who she was. Mrs. Lovette loves Todd and lied to him about Lucy (todd/parker wife) being dead so that he would move on and love her back. Johanna is Antony's lover and Todd's daughter, only he doesn't know that either.
