The problem becomes much more obvious when you consider an extreme variant. Suppose there are a million doors; 1 car, the rest goats. Same rules, you pick 1, then the host opens up ALL doors except the one you picked and one other. Obviously your original guess is very likely to be wrong, and by swapping to the only remaining door, you're obviously very likely to win. The counter-intution mostly comes in because in the case of 3 doors, "all other doors" = just 1 door, so it's hard to spot.

Well, I just concluded that you are nitpicking simply because of the fact that you dismissed a logical explanation of why he showed it as 66.6% and not 66.7%. That´s sorta like saying "Nay, ´tis not well enough for my person. Take theine explanation away!"And that´s nitpicking!

How would you draw that conclusion? I'm nitpicking which would suggest I like things to be correct which would suggest very rational.I already knew of this problem, when it was first proposed to me I said swap.

Someone is in a nitpicking mood... Let me guess.. You didn´t swap?

should swap!! u have a higher chance!!in the beggining the chances are equally divided into 3 parts, however after the gameshow host has shown u 1 door, the chances ar now dinded into 2 parts, not 3.
