Well, thanks for the advice, but I felt like listening to this song and felt like giving my opinion on it. That doesn't mean I torture myself listening to this song on a daily basis or focus my life on hating it. I simply think this "original spin" on Rock the Casbah is a horrible and notoriously boring tribute to the original that doesn't capture any of its magic or even takes a life of its own. That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to read my comments either.

You can never murder the original. FAIL. And I like this take. If you listen to the lyrics and the original point that the Clash was trying to make, you wouldn't be bothered much by what this artist did with the song. "Rock the Casbah" is not just about fun and rock.

The song isn't being "bastardized." You can never bastardize the original song. This author is just putting her original spin on the song. If you don't like it, that's fine. Don't listen to it and stay away from it.

I'm not criticizing the voice and beat of this version because it sounds good, but this is ROCK THE CASBAH by THE CLASH. You don't bastardize that song into some fruity, snap-your-fingers hotel elevator tune.
