I was at Reynolds for the basketball game where this was recorded - it's amazing that this still brings tears to my eyes after 15 years! Thank you so much for sharing this...

The NCAA brought the "hammer down" not because of Jimmy V but after initial accusations where proven false it was found that some players had sold comp tixs and shoes. Something most every athlete did back in the day.NYTimes: The National Collegiate Athletic Association put North Carolina State's basketball team on two years' probation today and barred it from the 1990 N.C.A.A. tournament for violations that included the misuse of complimentary tickets and sneakers provided to the players.

Best of luck....remember, as Jimmy V would say "If you think, you laugh, and you cry, that's a good day, that's a heck of a day!"

So NC State was put on probation because of a bunch of lies and the promise of a lucrative book sale? The NCAA doesn't bring the hammer down unless they have solid evidence. Keep living in the past. |
