Threw my TV away 3 years ago. My 7 year has been playing the violin and reading like mad ever since. I have to be careful what he reads though as that can be just as bad. The publishers and the broadcasters are one in the same.

I think this was a very power observation and demonstration of how perverse TV "Programming" is, nobody wants to engaged in conversation with children, they would rather shut them up with the electronic mother and father that is the TV, children can recognise the logos of over 300 corporations but can't name 10 plants or 20 fruits, we are totally disconnecting our children from nature so how will they understand it, we are doomed, this path has no place for humanity, the singularity is coming.

hahaha its kind of eery to think of the idea of parents teaching kids to keep their mouths closed. i wonder how much it subtly encourages silence and censored speech/ideas

its not really a paradox so much as a work that involves the participation and self involvement of the audience in meaning creation. the viewer who is aware of themselves and the activity by which they absorb and comprehend media and reality, will be able to make this conceptual leap and complete the meaning making process by analogy (them-kids). a work that can be successful in this regard is dope
