While America has not accepted Russia's challenge, there's very little reason for the USAF to do so. This isn't an international pissing contest.Where is the incentive to reveal the full capabilities of the F-22 to a potential adversary? Besides the fact that the F-22 is designed to hunt at long range without ever being seen (hence the AIM-120D and stealth features) rather than dogfight, it's in America's best interests to play things close to the vest.

isnt that the point of having air supremacy, to get away from dog fights!?!
MustangGT520 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
your wrong man , americans refused to have a dog fight against it

caljakcol: "The SFW/F-16 was rejected by DARPA in January of 1981 in favor of the Grumman 712 (an F-5/F-20 derivative), later designated the X-29A."The Israeli's made one that I know of, and it was way ahead of it's time but the cost was $1,000,000,000.00, so the USA said F.U., but Israel did build one, that much I know. Russian SU 47, old U.S. technology, been there, done that vis a vis Israel
